The Maurice Flitcroft Story

1976

Maurice Flitcroft enters The British Open masquerading as a pro golfer.
He's actually a crane driver from Barrow-in-Furness.
After carding a round of 49 over par the R&A ban him for life

1978
---------------------------------------
Under the pseudonym of Gene Pacecki he enters The Open again.
But is rumbled by officials after just a few holes

1983
---------------------------------------
Maurice returns in the guise of Swiss pro Gerald Hoppy.
After taking 63 strokes for the first nine holes he's once again booted out

1990
---------------------------------------
He makes his final assault on The Open as James Beau-Jolly (partly named after his alsation).
He's ejected after just 2 holes
